The Caravan & Motorhome Book was originally published in 200. It had 11 updated editions. It was totally rewritten in 2016. Surprisingly little unbiased information is available about buying, building, converting or using camper trailers, caravans and motor homes. This book, by engineer/writer Collyn Rivers, is an industry-free non-biased guide to all one needs to know. It has received brilliant reviews.

Now located in Church Point, NSW, the author was originally trained as ground radar engineer the(UK) Royal Air Force. He then work briefly at de Havilland (UK) on guided missile development, then as a Research Engineer at Vauxhall Bedford’s Research Chaul End Laboratory (UK). Associated with that he drove a big Bedford mobile testing vehicle twice across the full length and breadth of Africa – including two full Sahara crossings. He migrated to Australia in 1964 initially designing engineering testing equipment. In 1970, he changed careers to found Electronics Today International magazine over 10 years established separate editions in the UK, Canada, Holland, Germany, Indonesia and India. By 1976 it was the world’s largest. He then ran that, plus all of the then (Kerry Packer’s) ACP technical books and magazines worldwide. He set up his own technical publishing company in 1982 – and was technical editor of The Bulletin until 1990. He then wrote the Federal Govt’s Guide to Information Technology plus writing and publishing five (still current) books in the RV and solar area. He also edited the Caravan Buyers Guide. His (Finnish) wife – Maarit Rivers is a child psychologist.
